OUR STORY

Sarah Fawbush and Sean Flanagan are the Co-Founders and Co-Owners of Jameson Asset Management, LLC. Sarah and Sean have been together for over four years.

Sarah was born in San Diego, California. At the age of seven, her parents were divorced. Gail, Sarah's mother operated many beauty schools in the City of San Diego. Gail acquired her own beauty school in Lancaster, California. Sarah was fascinated with the idea of being her own boss and seeing her mom as an entrepreneur at the age of seven.

Sarah's father, was a polar opposite. He lacked a strong work ethic and it cost him. A year later, Sarah went to live with her dad and ended up being homeless at the age of eight. Sarah and her father were living out of a 1974 Cadillac Seville Coupe. Sarah had to use the local YMCA to shower and occasionally squatted in abandoned homes nearby in the Mission Valley area. Sarah quickly realized this was not the type of life she wanted to live. Sarah ended up moving back to Lancaster with her mom and Ron (step-father). She was taught the importance of hard work, job security, and retiring with a 401K.

In the Fall of 2016, Gail was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor and had to have brain surgery. Not too long after, Ron was diagnosed with stage three cancer of the kidneys. Gail went through two separate surgeries over the span of two years and made a full recovery. Unfortunately Ron was unable to make a recover and later passed away in March of 2018. Sarah watched as her parents had traded their time for money to build a business. However her parents never got the chance to do the things they had planned on.  Sarah was left motivated to make a change in how she lived and not trade her time for money.

Sean was born in Sacramento, California to parents, Thomas and Tammy. Sean grew up with both his parents working for the federal government. Sean later relocated for his mother's work when he was ten years old to Lancaster, California. Sean grew up seeing his parents trade their time for money.

Sean went to the University of Hawaii and received a Bachelors Degree in Political Science. Initially, Sean was going to pursue a career as a lawyer, but later changed direction as a police officer for the City of San Diego. Again trading his time for money.

At the age of 31, Sean had to endure the painful loss of his mother passing away. Tammy was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer during the summer of 2018. Sean saw his mother who worked for forty years at the same job have to medically retire and now fight for her life. Just days before Christmas, Tammy lost her battle with cancer on December 22, 2018. Tammy was 59 years old.

The following year, Thomas became sick and was unable to live on his own. After six months of fighting for his life, living in and out of a hospital he was finally able to leave. Only this time, Thomas now had to live in an adult board and care with round the clock supervision.

Sean experienced and struggled first hand having both parents go through situations that caused him to question life and the way in which people live. Sean was determined to find alternative means to earning a living. One in which he could earn money without having to trade his time. Sean's perspective about going to college, and getting a good job with benefits had changed drastically.

The "traditional" way in which Sarah and Sean thought about money no longer worked for them. These life changing events lead them to reject the idea of working for forty years only to retire and not have the possibility to see and enjoy retirement. Sarah and Sean's  understanding of how money worked no longer made sense by "traditional" standards. While still continuing to work as a police officer, Sean read the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki. Sean's view in the way money worked and how the rich use money vs. how the poor use money had been turned upside down. Sarah and Sean had a realization that there were other people who did not trade their time for money, and did not work for money. Rather they had their money work for them! Sarah and Sean knew right then and there they no longer could trade their time for money. The idea of starting their own business was born.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jameson Asset Management, LLC. was founded.
